Stage 1 - Talking Points
I read Bradford’s book again this last week. The book starts strong but I think he dilutes his message by meandering through too many topics. I don’t think the case for PV needs to involve the distant future, storage concepts, nuclear power, carbon emissions, AGW etc. I think the argument for PV should focus on targeting intermediate and peak load in near-to-medium term, cost-effective markets. Call this the Stage 1 goal. Half way into PV’s consumption of this Stage 1 market it will become much clearer where PV is going. The army of expertise will be much stronger. That’s when you get more serious about looking at the integration burden of PV, demand response potential, storage potential etc. It’s fun to make intuitive guesses about PV’s future (god knows I do) but I think Shah, Bradford, Rogol, Mints and all the other high-level advocates should have a Stage 1 style list of talking points to hammer in.
